Following a lot of crazy performances from week 5 of the NFL season. Here are the winners and losers from the past week.
Cam Newton: The Panthers went on to face the Detroit Lions Sunday and won 27-24. Cam Newton went 26-33 for 355 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cam faced a much tougher defense when going up against the Lions compared to the Patriots in week 4. Newton when on to post back-to-back games with over 25 fantasy points for the first time since 2015. A.J Green: The Bengals went up against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and won 20-16. Green had 7 receptions for 189 yards. His longest reception of 77 yards went for the only touchdown he had. Green had a hand on the 3 turnovers committed as he lost a fumble and both interceptions were off Green’s targets. A.J. Green was impressive as the Buffalo Bills defense has allowed the 10th fewest points per game and allowed opposing No. 1 wipeouts the ninth fewest. Leonard Fournette: The Jaguars went up against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday and won 30-9. Fournette was excellent for fantasy football owners in both PPR (31.4) and Non-PPR leagues (30.4). Fournette went on to run the ball 28 times for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aaron Jones: Green Bay went on to face the Dallas Cowboys Sunday and won 35-31. Jones had 20 touches and was accountable for 19 of the teams 25 rushing attempts. Jones was a popular addition to fantasy owners from being owned in .42% of leagues in week 4 to 65.7% of leagues in week 5. Jones went on to post 20.4 PPR points on 125 rushing yards, a reception for 9 yards and a touchdown.
Ben Roethlisberger: The Steelers went up against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday and lost 30-9. Roethlisberger threw for 5 interceptions for the first time in his NFL career. The performance resulted in 2.58 fantasy points which is the 7th worst in his career. Roethlisberger went on to complete 33 of 55 passes for 312 yards. Carlos Hyde: The 49ers went up against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and lost 26-23 in overtime. Hyde went on to post a mere 2.8 PPR and 1.8 Non-PPR fantasy points. Those totals would go on to be the 5th and 6th worst in his NFL career. Hyde went on to rush the ball 8 times for 11 yards and caught the ball once for 9 yards. His hip issue definitely played a role in his performance. Amari Cooper: The Raiders went up against Ravens on Sunday and lost 30-17. Cooper has been held to two catches or fewer in his last 3 performances. That marks the first time in Coopers career that he posted single digit points in 3 consecutive games. On Sunday Cooper was held to one catch for 8 yards even while only being targeted twice by EJ Manuel.
