Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston are two of the young quarterbacks looking to take the league by storm. With both entering their 3rd season in the league after being drafted in 2015 which quarterback would you rather draft? Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston or Tennessee Titan’s Marcus Mariota?
Jameis Winston was drafted out of Florida State by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. During Winston’s first two years in the league he was able to accumulate 8,132 yards while throwing for 50 touchdowns. During his career Winston is averaging 7.4 yards per attempt. FantasyPros say that Winston has the 5th easiest schedule among quarterbacks for the 2017 season. Winston ended last season by completing 20 of 35 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers. Winston finished the 2016 season in a terrible fashion racking up only 49 fantasy points through four contests. The Buccaneers had to stop passing the ball because he had turned into a turnover machine. Jameis Winston is projected to throw for 4,309 yards, he is also projected to throw 29 touchdowns but also have 16 interceptions. Last year Winston led the league in passing attempts 16+ yards down the field with 116 attempts. Now they have one of the best deep ball artists in the game Desean Jackson. This should open up the intermediate passing game for Mike Evans. The Tennessee Titans pick is in and they have selected Marcus Mariota.
Marcus Mariota was drafted out of Oregon by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 2 pick in the 2015NFL Draft. Mariota has racked up 6,244 yards, 45 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions during his first 2 seasons while only play 27 games due to injuries. Mariota has also rushed for 601 yards and 4 touchdowns. During his career Mariota is averaging 7.6 yards per pass and 6.4 yards per rush. FantasyPros say Mariota has the 16th easiest schedule among quarterbacks for 2017. Barring the setback from sustaining a broken leg at the end of the 2016 season, the third year signal caller will be healthy for the start of the 2017 season. Mariota is projected 3,731 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions for the 2017 season. Titans attempted to also add in more fire power to help Mariota, with taking Corey Davis #5 overall and signing of Eric Decker. Which young quarterback are you looking to have lead your team this fantasy season? Personally, I would go with Mariota because he has an offensive line that can protect him and give him time to make smart decisions when passing the ball. But Mariota also has the ability to rush the ball for small yet effective gains. So with that being said, which quarterback are you going to draft? Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jameis Winston or Tennessee Titan’s Marcus Mariota
