With the football season approaching quickly many are preparing for their fantasy drafts. If you were to start your draft by taking a running back, who would you rather have? Pittsburgh’s Le’Veon Bell or Cardinal’s David Johnson?

Le’Veon Bell is entering his 5th season in the league after being drafted from Michigan State back in 2013. Bell had only played 12 games in 2016 but was 3rd in rushing with 1,884 from scrimmage. He also missed most of the 2015 season due to an MCL tear. During the 2016 season Bell rushed for 1,268 yards and averaged nearly 5 yards per carry. He has totaled 26 rushing touchdowns and 5 receiving touchdowns in his career. 88% of his runs have been for positive yardage after contact. Bell has also played 93% of RB snaps for Pittsburgh. After being suspended the first three games of 2016, Bell was able to produce 243 Fantasy points after rushing for 1,268 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns. In 2017 he’s projected to have 270 points with 1,415 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, while also recording 618 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.

David Johnson is entering his 3rd season in the league after being drafted out of Northern Iowa in 2015. Last season Johnson ran for 1,239 yards while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He totaled 16 rushing touchdowns and 4 receiving touchdowns last season. Due to his skill set on offense, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said ”Johnson is likely to get 30 touches a game in 2017”. Johnson also has the 7th easiest schedule among running backs heading into next season. With his catching ability, last season Johnson took 509 snaps as a receiver and is looking to have 1,000 receiving yards next season along with 1,000 rushing yards. During his second year in the league, Johnson forced 71 missed tackles. Johnson is projected to produce 288 points, while rushing for 1,170 yards and receiving for 771 yards.
Bell and Johnson are two of the best all purpose backs in the league with their ability to fight for extra yardage. Johnson is a big back with excellent hands as well as Bell. Both can put up big number and can help lead your fantasy team to the promise land. Which running back would you rather draft for fantasy football? For me personally, I would take Johnson. He's a big brutal back with excellent hands that will fight for extra yardage.

*Editor's note: 2 of the staff's 5 rankers ranked Bell over David Johnson while 3 of us ranked David Johnson higher.
